The Residents of ShellBee Homestead
Welcome to the heart of ShellBee Homestead! While people may run the farm, it's our animals who truly steal the show. Each one plays an important role in our homesteading journey, whether they're providing food, teaching us valuable lessons, or simply bringing joy and laughter to our days.
Thelma
Thelma is one half of our dynamic goat duo and is always ready to investigate anything new on the homestead. Curious, playful, and full of confidence, she loves exploring her surroundings and keeping us on our toes.
As she grows, Thelma will be part of our future dairy goat program and help us continue building a more sustainable homestead.
Fun Fact: If there's something she shouldn't be climbing on, she'll probably find it first!
Nigerian Dwarf Doeling
Louise
Louise may be Thelma's sister, but she has a personality all her own. Sweet, affectionate, and just a little mischievous, she enjoys cuddles almost as much as she enjoys playing.
Together, Thelma and Louise spend their days racing around their pen, exploring new adventures, and winning hearts wherever they go.
Fun Fact: She's often the first one to come running when it's bottle-feeding time.

Hei Hei
Every flock needs a leader, and Hei Hei proudly takes that role. As our resident rooster, he keeps a watchful eye over the hens, alerts everyone to potential dangers, and ensures order is maintained around the chicken yard.
While he may occasionally act like he's in charge of the entire homestead, his dedication to protecting the flock makes him an important member of the team.
Fun Fact: Hei Hei's crow serves as the unofficial morning alarm clock for the homestead.
Homestead Rooster & Flock Protector
Drake is one of our beloved Love Ducks and is rarely seen far from his partner, Dee Dee. Whether they're waddling around the yard or enjoying a swim, he's happiest when they're together. He loves piggy back rides in the pond. (wink wink)
Dee Dee is the other half of our inseparable duck duo. Curious and adventurous, she often follows Drake where ever he waddles.
Together, they provide plenty of laughs and remind us daily that some friendships truly are lifelong.
Fun Fact: If Drake and Dee Dee are out of sight, they're almost certainly together somewhere nearby.
The ‘Love’ Ducks
Drake & Dee Dee
Our hardworking hens provide one of the homestead's greatest rewards—fresh farm eggs. These ladies spend their days scratching for bugs, exploring the yard, and converting feed into delicious eggs for our family.
Each hen contributes to the daily rhythm of the homestead and helps us move one step closer to self-sufficiency.
Fun Fact: No two eggs are exactly alike, and every collection feels like a little treasure hunt..

🥚 Our Egg-Laying Hens
Our Coturnix quail may be tiny compared to the rest of the homestead residents, but they play an important role. These productive little birds provide eggs, breeding opportunities, and endless entertainment.
From fluffy chicks to mature birds, they've become an important part of our homesteading adventure.
Fun Fact: Young quail sound like popcorn popping when they move around the brooder!
